iOS 27.2 Siri AI recalls an earlier chat and uses more on-device context, on iPhone 16 models and the iPhone 15 Pro.

iOS 27.2 Siri AI: What the Update Adds

iOS 27.2 Siri AI is the part of this iPhone update that can bring back an earlier Siri conversation and look at more of what is already on the phone. It is for someone who just installed 27.2, or is about to, and wants the change list before turning it on.

The picture at the top of this page is a conceptual illustration. It is not an iPhone screenshot, and it is not a reply from Siri.

What 27.2 adds to Siri

Apple's notes for iOS 27.2 say this update lets Siri AI keep useful context from earlier Siri interactions and draw on a wider range of personal context. The same opening sentence introduces Suggestions in Messages, for quick actions in apps such as Calendar and Reminders. Those suggestions are listed again under Other, outside the Siri AI block. This page did not install 27.2.

The Siri AI block is limited to all iPhone 16 models and later, plus iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Inside that block, the notes name five changes:

  • Siri can recall past conversations. The note's own example is asking about restaurants it recommended last week.
  • It can use more sources: photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, and better results from Safari history and Reading List.
  • Excluded Apps is one setting for which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access.
  • You can select and copy part of a Siri response, instead of the whole reply.
  • Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The same line says it is not available in the EU or mainland China.

Which phones, and where it stays off

That device line is the one printed on the 27.2 notes. iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not in it. The notes do not print a release clock. Reports around October 26, 2026 described the update as out. The feature list above is from Apple's notes page, read on October 30, 2026.

Writing with Siri was already on iOS 27

Composing and rewriting are not in the 27.2 change list. Apple's guide, Write with Siri, describes Siri AI on iOS 27 or later and still calls it a beta. Opening that guide from this network, which is in mainland China, redirects to the general iPhone manual. The English guide text says you can compose, rewrite, proofread, and ask how something sounds. If Siri AI is off, the same guide points you to Writing Tools instead.

The sample requests on that guide are Apple's, not ones sent from here. They include a story for a four-year-old about evaporation, a three-day New York itinerary, "Proofread this.", tidying a recipe into steps, "How's this sound?", and condensing meeting notes. The guide says you swipe down on Siri's answer to continue the conversation.

A few limits sit on that guide, not on the 27.2 change list. Siri AI is not available for users under 13. The guide's current language line includes English along with the five languages named in the 27.2 notes. It says Siri AI will not initially be available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, and that Apple Intelligence and Siri AI are not available in mainland China. It also says some server-side features, including Siri AI, have daily usage limits, and that expanded access will be available for a fee in the future. The 27.2 notes do not print that fee or a daily number. No checkout was opened here.

The same guide says the beta also covers iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27, on an Apple Intelligence device set to a supported language. This page only checked the iPhone notes and that guide.

The other lines on the 27.2 page

The notes put several items under Other. These are part of 27.2, and they are not inside the Siri AI device block:

  • Suggestions in Messages, such as adding a Calendar invite for a dinner mentioned in the conversation.
  • Shared Albums in Photos can edit captions and comments, skip duplicate photos, and remind people before an album expires.
  • Photos and Image Playground can use SynthID watermarking to help identify an image that was generated or modified with generative tools.
  • The Podcasts Home tab splits New Episodes and Continue Playing.
  • The Games app Friends tab adds context for friend suggestions and shows recent games on a friend's page.
  • The Apple TV app adds simple profiles so people in one household get separate recommendations.

The notes say the release also includes bug fixes and security updates. The security bulletin was not opened for this page.
