What is CiteTrue?
CiteTrue is a free AI-powered citation verification tool and citation checker that helps researchers and students ensure their citations are authentic and accurate. It searches through vast authoritative academic databases to verify and check citations, flagging any that appear to be fake or AI-generated.
How to use CiteTrue?
To use the tool, paste your references into the interface and click verify. CiteTrue will check every reference against real academic databases to catch AI-hallucinated citations before submission.
Feature 1: Comprehensive Field Verification
Each reference is split into fields including Title, Authors, Year, DOI, and Venue. Every field is checked separately against indexed records to catch references to unpublished papers, wrong credits, or year drift.
Feature 2: AI-Hallucination Detection
Specifically designed to catch fabricated bibliographic citations generated by AI models like GPT-3.5 and GPT-4.
Feature 3: Confidence Scoring
The citation checker generates a confidence score that indicates how likely each citation is to be authentic and accurate based on its proprietary scoring model.

Verify citations are authentic and accurate when writing papers or conducting academic research.
Use Case 2: Student Paper Review
