MockLive - Product Image

MockLive is a practice room where you answer out loud, someone follows up, and the score quotes what you actually said.

The report quotes the messy answer

The homepage sample is a system-design round with Kai, listed as a staff engineering manager. Answer 4 of 9, at 12:04, is quoted as said: "We, um, basically sharded it and it kind of worked, so the team was happy with that." The note underneath says "we" hides the decision, there are no numbers, and the trade-off from earlier never came back. The line it offers instead is specific: shard by tenant, cut p99 from 1.8 seconds to 300 milliseconds, and move cross-tenant reporting to a nightly job.

  • That same sample scores technical communication 82, engineering depth 74, and ownership 68, each out of 100. Those are the numbers on the homepage sample, not a published customer result.
  • A quote appears only if you said it, with the timestamp. The video is yours alone.
  • An exam score is the band the test would have given. An interview score is against the rubric for that round, not one generic score for every conversation.

It answers before the silence

Most voice tools wait until you stop, write a whole reply, then read it. MockLive says it decides you have finished from what you said, and starts the reply while you are still trailing off. On their diagram, you hear the first words about 400 milliseconds after your last syllable. The path that waits for silence is drawn at about 2.4 seconds. A wrong guess is cancelled before you hear it. You can talk over it, and echo from laptop speakers is filtered, so headphones are not required.

  • A fast model runs the live conversation. A slower one scores the session afterwards.
  • There are 19 interviewers, each with a temperament and a rubric. The panel they name includes Kai, Ethan as a hiring manager, Maya as a FAANG product director, Julian as a venture partner, Nadia as a sales director, Simone as a consulting partner, Elena as a bar raiser, and Ronan, labeled a chaos agent.
  • Interview tracks include software engineering, system design, behavioral, product, data science, consulting, sales, design, finance, and mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering. You can also name a role.
  • In a coding round the code runs for real. Sessions can be in 47 languages. The homepage says 4.8 average across 1,200-plus sessions. That figure is theirs.

One room, one price

The homepage says the first session in every room is free, and that after that nothing costs more than $3 a go. The pricing page is where each room's pack is printed. Interview passes are the ones that show a per-session price, and those stay at or under $3.

  • Single is $9 for 3 sessions, valid 30 days. One interview coming up.
  • Sprint is $39 for 15 sessions, valid 45 days. The page calls this the one most people want, and prints about $2.60 an interview. It is meant to cover a job search from start to offer.
  • Intensive is $79 for 40 sessions, valid 90 days. Daily practice.
  • English exams start at $29.90. An IELTS Academic pass is 20 full mocks, listening, reading, writing, and speaking, valid for a year. A Speaking-only pass is 20 speaking tests at half the IELTS pass price, also for a year. The exam card does not print that second dollar amount.
  • A talk or a story is listed at $19. Presentations are 10 rehearsals of your own deck. Storytelling is 10 stories. A US student-visa interview is $19 for 10 interviews at the window.
  • Roleplay is the one subscription: $29 a month for ten live calls, cancel any time. Sales discovery, objections, demos, customer success, support, leadership, manager feedback, and negotiation are among the 18 scenarios.

A pass does not renew, and sessions you do not use expire with it. Roleplay monthly does renew until you cancel it in account settings. Unused passes can be refunded. The card's billing country sets the price: India, Bangladesh, Japan, the eurozone, the UK, and what they call sixty-odd other countries see a local price. Everywhere else, the page shows dollars, and that is what the card is charged. One pass does not pay for a different product.

What the free session actually is

  • The first mock interview is 7 minutes, no card. A free session requires a Google sign-in.
  • One full exam mock is free across IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, and Duolingo, with no clock on that one, plus a free IELTS Speaking test.
  • Roleplay includes a free 12-minute offer call. OET and the visa interview each include a free 5-minute run. Presentations and Storytelling each include one free session.
  • Mock interviews are meant for a laptop. The other rooms work on a phone.

The recording stays yours, for 30 days

Interviews and roleplay calls record by default, and you can switch that off before you start. Recordings and transcripts are private to the account and are deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you delete them. Slides render in the browser. The file is never stored. Questions in a presentation come from the audience you named, about the slides you showed.

The about page does not name a founder. It says a small team, still early, and that a person reads the mail at [email protected]. The product is independent of the exams it imitates: IELTS practice is built from the published band descriptors, and MockLive says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by IELTS, the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge. Company names used for interview style are formats, not partnerships. Listening and reading answers are marked the way the exam marks them: spelling has to be exact, and an answer over the word limit scores nothing.
